Device Manager Device Manager is the answer for keeping
your mobile devices up-to-date and healthy.
Device Manager is the core module that provides base functionality
such as remote provisioning of applications and files, version control,
performance reporting, alerts and much more. Features include:
Easy
to Use Management Console
The web-based Device Manager console provides a convenient way to
view all your mobile assets and provides the ability to filter and
sort your devices by location, device type, groups and software
packages.
The Device Manager Console also provides easy to use and powerful
tools for modiying the settings, locations, groups and packages
that need to be assigned to the device.
Provisioning & Version Control
Deploying Packages of Files and Applcations to CloudSync is as
simple as checking the devices you wish to deploy these files,
select the package and click go.
CloudSync will automatically queue the files for download and
the next time the device is scheduled to check in with the server,
the device wil automatically download and install what ever is
assigned to it. The CloudSync Console also provides easy to see
icons that display the status of the devices downloads, a green
checkmark means it is finished.
Filtering Devices
With the device filter in CloudSync you can easily manage all
your devices. Filters can be set to select certain devices that
may need updates or your attention concerning power or connectivity.
Making filters is fast and easy, select your group, location,
and package, and then within those filtered devices you can select
memory usage, battery power, and wireless LAN connectivity to
find any device not working properly. Save the filter for future
reference to devices meeting the same criteria. Filters can be
a very effective way to micromanage certain groups, locations,
or packages for your entire company.
Reporting
Reporting from CloudSync is completely customizable. Reports are
used to gather information about your devices with the option
to deliver it to any e-mail address. Everything found in your
individual device previews can be reported; memory usage, battery
life, last synchronization, or wireless connectivity are also
available to name a few. Reporting can be done every day, week,
or month to provide device information as often as you need it.
File & Application Management
The CloudSync Library includes all functions for uploading files
as well as installing or running files on the device (CAB files,
Registry files, Executable files) from your computer as well as
managing their versions.
The Package Pane is on the right side of the Library window allows
you to create and update the files contained in software packages.
Software packages are available for administrators to assign to
devices using the Devices Tab. Packages are assigned to devices
for download.
User Management
The Users Tab provides full autonomy to manage the CloudSync system
however you choose. The Users Tab gives you the ability to add,
delete and manage users and their access to the CloudSync system.
CloudSync provides three levels of access to the system. The
Account Manager role is designed for Help Desk personal who needs
access to the Device Console and Remote Help Desk to support their
users in the field. This role can be limited access to only those
accounts that they have privilege to which is a nice feature if
you have disparate locations with different support personnel.
The System Adminsitrator has full access to the system in addition
to the ability to add Accounts and Users to your CloudSync system.
The Account Administrator role is designed for a manager to have
access to defined accounts to define settings, preferences and
have the abililty to manage the CloudSync Library for the assigned
accounts.
Account Management
CloudSync has hierarchal management capability, which is designed
specifically for Reseller or Integrator Partners that would like
to use CloudSync as a centralized system to provide mobile device
management support for their customers.
The Account Tab provides full autonomy for the administrator
to add and remove accounts within CloudSync.
Manage Communication Options
The Preferences tab allows you to define options such as: CloudSync
Configuration, this is where you can pick the destination directory
of configuration files and CloudUpdate; Packages, allowing you
to sync a newly added device as soon as it registers with CloudSync;
Proxy Settings, available to configure your CloudSync to your
network with proxy server support; Tracker & Performance Information,
are options on the devices to establish contact with the CloudSync
server at predetermined intervals; Time-Server Information’
provides a universal clock to all of your devices; and CloudUpdate
Information, allows you to set your devices to update automatically
at a given interval. As well in this area you will find all of
the license information for all CloudSync software.
Flexible Group Settings
Settings provide an easy way to divide your devices into groups
and/or locations. This tab allows you to define groups to keep
all your devices in one location in their departments such as;
a device for the stockers, sales persons, receiving, etc. Locations
allow you to categorize at a higher level, even worldwide, giving
you the ability to adjust the time zone for that location and
have multiple locations. Given these two abilities devices are
easily managed and accounted for.
Remote Help Desk The answer to supporting your mobile
users in the field is the CloudSync Remote Help Desk (RHD) solution.
Without exaggerating the web-based RHD solution provides
the Help Desk operator with more tools and features than are actually
available on the device. Features include:
Remote Help Desk Console
From the CloudSync Device Manager Console a Help Desk operator
can fire up a direct connection to the mobile device from their
web-browser. On connection to the device CloudSync will open up
the Remote Help Desk console.
With the ability to take remote control of the deivce, remotely
stop processes, grab a file off the device, check on the network
routing tables, take a screen snap-shot, or even send a message
to the device, the Help Desk operator has full control of "everything"
on the device.
Remote Control
One of the leading features of the RHD console is the web-based
remote control feature. Unlike other products on the market there
is no need to install any client software on your desktop. With
the remote control feature you can take control of the device
as if you had it in your hand. You can also enlarge the image
for training or demonstration purposes.
A nice feature of the remote control is the ability to use your
desktops keyboard to type in information into the device with
out having to tap out letters on a virtual keyboard.
Another nice feature about the remote control is the option to
define the resolution of the virtual screen. This is helpful if
your device is running over a slow network or Wireless Wide Area
Network connection.
Messaging
You can also use the “Messages” tab to customize a
message and send in real time to that device. In future releases
of CloudSync you will be able to send a messages or announcements
to multiple devices at the same time.
CloudUpdate
Another nice feature is the ability to force the device to synchronize
with the server using the CloudUpdate application. In case a mobile
user may be unaware of your need to install files and applications,
you can have the option of sending a customizable notification
to the user that the “administrator” needs to update
files and applications on the device, and not to panic if unexpected
things happen.
Process Control
The “Processes” tab not only lists all the currently
running processes on the devices, but provides you the ability
to “stop” or “kill” a process, for example
I can remotely shut down the Solitaire game running on this device.
It is also helpful for shutting down an application that may be
“stuck” with out having to restart the device.
Network Information
The “Networking” tab provides detailed information
on the network information for that device, such as:
• Installed Adapters
• Connections
• Routing Tables
• Address Resolution Protocols
• TCP Statistics
• Network Parameters
• WLAN Access Points
File Manager
The File Manager allows you to explore the files and folders on
the mobile device much like you would with the devices own file
explorer.
The advantage of this tool is it allows you to download files
directly to your desktop from the device without having to use
ActiveSync. Conversely you can upload files from your desktop
to the device, as well as move, copy and delete files.
CloudControl (Access Control Module) CloudControl is a powerful product
to ensure your users can only access the programs and files they have
privilege for. In addition it can prohibit the installation of non-approved
applications as well as secure the device if it is lost or stolen. Features
include:
CloudControl provides a user definable desktop for all devices.
This allows the administrator to keep the device working for the
company by blocking unwanted programs from launching, keeping
the device from being used if stolen, and many unique options
that can be very effective in managing devices. Devices can then
be configured with the same desktop interface or special configurations
can be made for different operations. Replacement Desktop is a
security feature in itself.
Easy Administration
Though the device is out in the field you can access the device
through the Remote Help Desk and login as administrator to allow
extra privileges or programs need by the end-user. Selecting Tools
menu you will be able to add new programs to the device, deleting
them is even easier just hold the stylus on the icon and a delete
option will be made available. Through the Options menu you can
set a large variety of things from hiding the Start Menu to turning
off the IR port. All the options are easy to understand and get
you set up and going in just a few minutes.
Customizable Title Bar
Under the Options menu in administrator mode you can modify the
title bar of the user interface to display, your company name,
modify the performance indicators such as battery and wireless
signal strength as well as showing time and date.
Hide Start Menu
Also under the Options menu in administrator mode you can disable
the Start Menu so the user can only access the applications defined
by the administrator as well the user cannot access anything to
attempt disabling CloudControl.
Add Programs
Adding Programs is fast and easy, from administrator mode select
the Tools menu and select New Program. From there you can browse
to the application you wish to add and set any arguments you deem
needed as well as which icon the program shall display with. Also
you can start or stop a program when CloudControl is started.
This provides a tool when the device crashes and needed to be
reset everything needed is started back up.
Security Options
CloudControl will allow you to disable Bluetooth and IR ports
to prevent any applications being installed. In addition ActiveSync
and Memory Card insertion can be prevented to ensure data can
not be loaded or taken off the device with our permission.
However authorized Remote Help Users will be able to access the
device even with CloudControl running.
